Born in Naples, Daniela Ciancio is an acclaimed costume designer with a profound background in the humanities and the visual arts. She studied Latin, Ancient Greek, History, and Philosophy in high school before graduating in Art Direction from the Academy of Fine Arts. She later honed her expertise at the prestigious Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, where she studied under legendary costume designer Piero Tosi, recipient of an Honorary Academy Award in 2014. Daniela was a board member of the European Film Academy from 2010 to 2013 and served on the EFA Special Awards Jury in 2015.

Her work has earned her numerous accolades, including two David di Donatello Awards for Best Costume Design for Il Resto di Niente (2005, directed by Antonietta De Lillo) and The Great Beauty (2013, directed by Paolo Sorrentino). A member of the European Film Academy, the Italian Academy of Cinema (David di Donatello), and since 2014, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Daniela has also contributed her talents to television, theatre, and opera, both in Italy and internationally. Her artistry continues to shape the visual language of contemporary cinema and stage.
